Khmer Traditional Wedding in America ( Cambodian American)
This year, I have done so many Cambodian traditional Wedding
starting from Jan to now. I learn so much about what to shoot and how to shoot.
I also have learned more about my culture if I do get married one day. I also
learn that when a Camera snap or quote “capture” a time of a wedding, my goal
is to get the story, portrait, and art. Photography is based on time and light,
using this method as an artist, I have to learn how to adapt the field of
Business + Art. I have done so many weddings in my career that I learn so much
every-time I do shoot at a wedding. But doing a full-traditional wedding (1-2
days) I learn that both male and female have to agree with the culture. Cambodian
males are small in number compare to the females in America; I am surprise to
see more Khmer on Khmer wedding here in the community. I just love the music also planning at the
wedding and wow I notice both of married couple have to set for hours on the floor!!!
I laugh while taken the photo sometime. I just love how the energy be, both
Parents speaking Khmer and also getting along at the wedding. The parent also
is rare in the late 90’s to early 20’s to see a Khmer and Khmer wedding. But so
far I have photography both Khmer couple this year and already getting book for
next year.
Khmer Wedding Plan
- Traditional Wedding (got to be in the female house)
- Monk pray if you’re Buddhism
- Then American wedding with Traditional Khmer wedding (the next day? Depend on the budget)
Why do Cambodian or Khmer American need to do a Khmer Wedding? From my point of view, keep the culture strong and into the heart of the Khmer people. Growing up seeing what we see in the media or hear. Cambodian people have save their culture for years compare to other Southeast Asian Country. So far my name in the Cambodian community in America and international is building up! I can’t wait to release the new site and also share my Cambodian wedding in my blog and portfolio. So far this is the fun part in my career and also far I love it.. I can’t wait for another on call or contract for a wedding soon this year or next. Remember if you’re planning to do a Khmer Wedding, make sure to get an elephant. (I am joking) well if you want to book me please contact me at "Bullisot@gmail.com" at the moment, new site will come soon a few more days.
